MA-SHOF Inductees

The MA-SHoF was created to honor and celebrate the people, places, and things that have significantly impacted skateboarding through the ages in the Mid-Atlantic Region of MD, VA, DC, DE, PA, NJ, NC & WV.

Join us on Friday, September 18th at 5:30pm in Ocean City, Maryland for our Celebration and Induction of the 2026 Class.  Tickets are available here.

OUR 2026 INDUCTEES ARE:

1.        Allen Midgette - a cornerstone of East Coast skateboarding history, best known as a powerhouse vert rider who emerged from the legendary Virginia Beach scene, in the late 1980s.  While many skaters of his era faded away, Allen is celebrated for his incredible longevity, and his role as a bridge between the big air vert era, and the modern generation.

2.        Darren “Moose” Menditto – a fellow Toxic pro & vert legend known for high-speed technical precision on massive halfpipes. He helped sustain vert skating’s relevance during a time when the industry was quickly shifting toward street. Darren then made the leap from from pro skater to emergency medicine physician. Today, "Dr. Moose" symbolizes the "skate for life" ethos, blending grit, style, and intellectual depth unique to the Mid-Atlantic scene.

3.        The Ocean Bowl SkateparkOpened in 1976, The Ocean Bowl is the world’s oldest municipal skatepark, and a cornerstone of the Mid-Atlantic skate scene. It served as a vital proving ground where legends "cut their teeth" on the original bowls and vert ramps. More than just a park, after 50 years it remains a cultural gathering spot that fosters lifelong relationships, and an enduring love for the sport.

4.        Sergie Ventura - Celebrated for his massive airs, technical consistency, and longevity in the sport, Sergie emerged as a prodigy under Christian Hosoi in the late 80s, and he became a staple of the global vert scene throughout the 90s and 2000s.  He is famous for blasting airs significantly higher than most of his competitors.  And, in 1995, he set a Guinness World Record for the highest air on a skateboard, a feat that helped reignite interest in vert skating during a commercially quiet period for the sport.

5.        Ned Brown. -  a true technical innovator who pushed the boundaries of street and park skating when the industry was at its smallest. His creative trick selection and DIY work ethic helped preserve the authentic, "skate everything" spirit of our region, and put the Delaware skate scene on the map.

6.        Rob Mertz – a dominant competitive force throughout the 1980s, and still ripping today. Rob is a vert powerhouse who loves big transitions with a massive bag of what he describes as "big smash down tricks"—standing in contrast to the more technical finesse of West Coast riders.  Rob could destroy a backyard ramp and a street spot with the same high-speed intensity, making him a standout star in the early days of skate media.

7.        Will Wiscott – As the primary 1980s artist for Kryptonics, Atlantic Skates, and High Energy, Will defined the visual soul of East Coast skateboarding. Working out of Action Island Screen-Printers in Ocean City, Maryland, he created the era's most iconic heavy metal-inspired graphics, including the legendary Ripstik. If you’ve ever owned a deck or shirt that felt uniquely "Mid-Atlantic," you likely know Will’s artwork.

8.        East Coast Toke Teamthe definition of anti-heros.  The Toke Team is more than a crew; they were the architects of our region’s rebellious skate soul.  They forged a raw, aggressive style that defined the 70s and 80s. They didn't just participate in the culture—they branded it.  They frequently hid Toke Team logos in photos and media, whenever possible, effectively mastering guerrilla marketing decades before it was a thing.

9.        Derek Krasauskas - a veteran of the competitive circuit who has dedicated his life to the growth of the sport. Derek’s skating style was refined in the backyard skate scene from Fisherman’s, Goshen, & Cedar Crest to the Hell Ramp.  Derek has spent years as a mentor and organizer, ensuring the next generation of skaters has the support and events they need to thrive.

And finally, the recipient of our prized Dorsey Truitt ICON AWARD.

Bucky Lasek - Bucky is quite simply one of the most decorated skateboarders in history, who is proudly from the Mid-Atlantic. With over a dozen X-Games medals and a career defined by constant innovation—including some of the most difficult technical vert tricks ever landed—he has taken Mid-Atlantic skateboarding to the highest global stage.

Congratulations to all our 2026 Inductees.  We cannot wait to celebrate with you at the Induction Ceremony.
